The La Biosthetique and Great Lengths community from Australia and New Zealand gathered to learn, hang, and celebrate on Monday in the heart of Sydney.

Kicking off with international guest and Global CEO of Great Lengths, Fabio Antonio, speaking about the new innovation coming out early next year. This was his first time in Australia, and he was loving every minute of it.

“It’s fantastic, everyone I have met, and the vibes are really cool”

When speaking with Mocha Group about new innovations, he said the goal is “to be closer to our client’s needs, so we have a lot of new products coming in the new year,” says Global CEO of Great Lengths, Fabio Antonio.

Creative and playful keynote international Peter Merrett, reinvigorated the community with the idea of ‘Bringing back the awe factor,’ inspiring growth, energy, and excitement in every salon and workspace.

As former CEO of the AHC, Sandy Chong, took to the stage for the last time as a keynote speaker, she was given a well-deserved standing ovation for her years of investment in the industry. Speaking with Mocha Group’s General Manager, Jarred Stedman, she expressed that she wanted her parting gift to be about “creating collaborative and positive salon culture,” plus “how to have a highly productive team.”

“With a room full of hairdressers, I didn’t want to show them something they would do on their clients.”

Franco continues by saying that he wanted to utilise his years of editorial work from both here and when he lived in London. When speaking exclusively with Mocha Group, he said, “All of the looks are quite different, I’ve tried to work with a lot of texture, and really push them.” He wanted to go against the grain, where clients wanted to take the frizz out, he wanted to put it in and accentuate it.

Sara Jackson, who is a Great Lengths specialist and educator, worked with Franco to exaggerate the looks with the use of the Great Lengths tapes. Sara said, “With Fabio here (the global CEO of Great Lengths), we thought we would go big”—and that they did. Taking Doria from straight hair to voluminous, big, frizzy hair.

With fashion stylist Lydia Jane Saunders, makeup artist Sarah Vrouxiou, and hair assistants Candice Johnson and Amanda Charara, it was inevitable that Mocha Group’s Jarred Stedman was going to do an impromptu editorial photoshoot in the hotel room where prep was happening.

With everyone at the party, it was time to have some awards for people who have been with La Biosthetique for 5, 10, 15, and 20 years from Australia and New Zealand.

Also celebrating the ‘Colour with Care’ program that has been running since 2016 and has now raised over $100,000 for Médecins Sans Frontières.
