SHARON BLAIN LAUNCHES NEXTGEN FOR FUTURE HAIRDRESSERS.

12 mentors. 12 live sessions. Six months of education, mentoring and industry connection.

After decades of educating hairdressers around the world, Sharon Blain is turning her attention to one of the issues she feels most strongly about: supporting the next generation of the hair industry.

Launching in October 2026, NextGen is a new six-month online mentoring program created for hairdressing apprentices, recently qualified hairdressers and emerging stylists who want greater confidence, stronger practical skills and a clearer pathway forward in the industry.

NextGen is the latest initiative from HAIR The Movement, founded by Sharon Blain with a mission to bring hair education back to greatness and help build a stronger future for the industry.

“I have been thinking about this program for a long time,” Sharon says. “We keep hearing about young people losing confidence or leaving hairdressing altogether. I don’t believe the answer is simply to keep talking about the problem. We need to give them real support, practical education and access to people who can genuinely help them.”

NextGen brings together 12 respected mentors across 12 live online sessions over six months, with leading hairdressers, educators and industry specialists sharing their skills, experience and advice.

The program spans cutting, colour, styling, barbering, consultation, confidence, professional development, career direction and more, giving participants access to education that goes beyond technical skills alone.

Sessions will combine practical demonstrations, honest conversations, professional guidance and opportunities for participants to ask questions directly.

“NextGen is about helping young hairdressers understand what comes next. Once they’ve finished studying, we want to give them guidance, support and access to people who can help them find their direction and build a strong future in the industry.” says Sharon.

Affordability has been central to the development of NextGen, with the complete six-month program available through five monthly instalments of $29, totalling $145 AUD.“I want to see as many young hairdressers as possible involved,” Sharon says. “I want them to feel connected to the industry, inspired by what is possible and supported as they find their direction and build their future.”

NextGen commences 12 October 2026, with enrolments now open.

Clinic Closures Bring Prepaid Treatment Models Into Focus.

aglow has highlighted the importance of how aesthetic clinics and salons manage prepaid client funds, following a few recent clinic closures, with a focus on the arrangements in place for vouchers, packages and credit balances if a business closes. The company said the closures have highlighted a structural risk in parts of the beauty sector, where client money can be used to fund day-to-day operations. In those cases, clients may be left as unsecured creditors if a business closes, while operators can carry growing liabilities on their balance sheets. Two Adelaide clinics on the aglow platform, Jennifer Carly Aesthetic Medicine and Adelphè Wellness, have stepped in to support customers affected by these recent local closures, by honouring vouchers. Karl Margrain, CEO and founder of aglow, said the issue reaches beyond a single business failure. “When client money is used to fund operating cash flow, the risk can fall back on

Glovora’s New App Turns One-Time Clients Into Repeat Business.

Glovora announced the launch of its white-label patient app built for salons, aesthetic, cosmetic, spa and wellness clinics, giving clinic owners a single platform to grow loyalty, retention and predictable revenue. Most salons and clinics still grow the hard way — buying leads, sending emails that go unopened, and hoping clients rebook. Glovora replaces that with an always-on retention engine that lives on the patient’s phone. The only app brings six tools into one: memberships, rewards, automated offers, financing, push-notification deals, in-app retail and treatment sales 24/7, a simple to use client experience, all under the salon or clinic’s own name and branding. The result is fewer one-time visits and more recurring, predictable revenue, without rising ad spend. ‘Salons and Clinics are brilliant at delivering services and treatments, but growth shouldn’t depend on constantly chasing new leads. Glovora turns every visit into the start of a lasting relationship.” said Fabio

Sound Medicine.

The Ancient Wisdom Modern Wellness Is Finally Hearing. By Sam Oraya, Founder of The Day Spa. Long before sound was studied in laboratories, it was understood by the body. Across cultures and centuries, people have gathered in sacred spaces to chant, sing, pray, drum and ring bells. Sound has always been woven into ritual and healing. Our ancestors understood something essential: sound can change the way we feel. I have worked with sound, singing bowls, chimes, voice and other instruments for as long as I can remember. I have also immersed myself in spiritual sound experiences throughout the world, from sacred community and Amerta sound medicine in Bali, to Thai temples, chanting the Reiki precepts in Japan and, more recently, Mexico. Each experience has been different, yet I have repeatedly noticed the same thing: sound can reach places that words and conscious thought sometimes cannot. You do not simply hear
